THE CONCERT

21/02/2015

Alistair Sung (cello) and Manuel Wouthuysen (piano) will perform a night of music for those who are curious; what is classical music? And what’s its value? This concert is part of Alistairs master-research for the Royal Conservatoire  in The Hague. Manuel Wouthuysen is a bachelor student at the Conservatoire in Utrecht.

Performing music by Pärt, Shostakovich and Piazzola, and supported by visuals by graphic designer, Ming Sin Ho, the concert will aim to show that classical music is relevant to all with a pulse.

The programme will be:

Arvo Pärt – Fratres

Nikolai Kapustin – Impromptu Op. 66: No. 2

Oene van Geel – Three Dances for solo cello: North Adams

Dmitri Shostakovich – Sonata for cello and piano Op. 40: Largo

Astor Piazzola – Libertango

The concept of this evening is to let go of the standard ‘traditional’ way classical music is presented to the public. You will be surprised! So grab a drink, keep an open mind, and enjoy THE CONCERT!
