Alistair Sung en Anne van Engeland ‘Responses to Bach’

21 februari 2015 was een gedenkwaardige avond in KuuB. Toen trad de jonge cellist Alistair Sung op met Manuel Wouthuysen op de piano, THE CONCERT. Een heel speciale manier van presenteren gecombineerd met prachtige muziek.
Alistair Sung komt terug, vrijdagavond 17 juni, 20.00 uur. Nu met de danseres Anne van Engeland.
Programma:
- Bach: suite no.2 for solo cello in d minor
- Brødsgaard: Prelude
- Improvisation
‘My plan is to present a concert based on the idea of Responses to Bach. The concert will begin with the second solo suite of Bach. Collaborating with me on this will be the dancer Anne van Engeland. She will be responding to both the cello suite that I’ll be playing and the art on display. Following that will be a short piece by the Danish composer Anders Brodsgaard called Prelude. It’s a great atmospheric piece that shows the composer’s own response to the suites and quotes small fragments of the cello suites. Lastly, I’ll be performing a semi improvised piece using my electric cello/looper/pedals. I’ll sample fragments of the Bach from the first part of the program drawing on music from several other genres to create a rich, layered texture.
Trying all this together will be the art of Elisabeth Müller who’s work will form the inspiration for myself and Anne and which is itself a response to Bach.’
